The Leir Institute, in partnership with social research firm Decodis, will host a brown bag discussion with Senior Sociolinguist Derry Moore. Moore will discuss the innovative sociolinguistic methods used in Leir and Decodis's new project, Digital Portfolios of the Poor (DPP). DPP's tech-led methods enable researchers to conduct qualitative research remotely and at scale, giving respondents the space to talk in their own language and dialect. Moore will elaborate on the sociolinguistic methods used to analyze voice recordings of participant responses and how they elicit insights. There will also be a review and discussion of a use-case.

More information about DPP can be found at https://sites.tufts.edu/ihs/digital-portfolios-of-the-poor/.

Derry Moore is a Senior Linguist at Decodis and a PhD candidate at SUNY Buffalo. Decodis is a social research company founded by Dr. Daryl Collins, Leir Senior Fellow and author of the acclaimed "Portfolios of the Poor". More information about Decodis can be found at https://www.decodis.com/.
