Join Tisch College for a conversation with author, activist, entrepreneur, and political leader, Stacey Abrams. For 11 years, including seven as Minority Leader, Abrams served in the Georgia House of Representatives. In 2018, she was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia, making her the first Black woman to become the gubernatorial nominee for a major party in the United States. After a hotly contested gubernatorial election, Abrams launched Fair Fight to ensure every Georgian has a voice in the state's election system and Fair Fight 2020, an initiative to fund and train voter protection teams in 20 battleground states. She was named to the Forbes list of World's Most Powerful Women as a result of her work. Over the course of her career, Abrams has founded multiple organizations devoted to voting rights, training and hiring young people of color, and tackling social issues at both the state and national levels. She is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the 2012 recipient of the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award, and a current member of the Board of Directors for the Center for American Progress. Abrams is also the author of nine books, including Lead from the Outside: How to Build Your Future and Make Real Change.

This event is sponsored by Tisch College, CIVIC, Tufts ACTION, the Africana Center, the Political Science Department, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy.
