Speaker Bio: Dr. Jacob Mundy is an Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and the Director of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Colgate University. He received both a BA and MA from the University of Washington, as well as a PhD from the University of Exeter’s Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies. Dr. Mundy’s research uses a historical and geographical approach to explore processes and representations of organized violence, particularly in terms of foreign intervention, in Northwest Africa and Southwest Asia. He is the co-author of Western Sahara: War, Nationalism and Conflict Irresolution with Stephen Zunes and has completed fieldwork in Algeria, the Western Sahara, Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco.
