Join Tisch College for a special conversation with U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA12). Pelosi serves as the 52nd Speaker of the House of Representatives, after making history in 2007 when she was elected the first woman to serve in that role. She was also the first woman to lead a major political party in Congress when she assumed the role of House Democratic leader in 2003. For the past 34 years, Speaker Pelosi has represented California's 12th District, helping to pass key legislation like the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Affordable Care Act, and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act as well as hate crimes legislation, key investments in college aid, and legislation to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." In 2013, Pelosi was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, the birthplace of the American women's rights movement. A strong proponent of service, she has been a powerful voice for civil rights and human rights around the world.

This event is the 6th Annual Alan D. Solomont Lecture on Citizenship and Public Service and is supported by Tisch College's Distinguished Speaker Series. This event is sponsored by Tisch College, Tufts ACTION, CIVIC, and the Political Science Department.
